TMDTA x RSM Talk Series: Gender and classical music - beyond the 'woman' conversation

  • The Royal Society of Musicians 26 Fitzroy Square London, England, W1T 6BT United Kingdom (map)

It's undeniable that the past five years have changed the game when it comes to the conversation around gender and women's music. More music by women is being recorded and programmed, but fear is still afoot. And anyway, should we strive for gender equality in our programming? Is that realistic or even helpful?

In their next live podcast, Things Musicians Don't Talk About are joined by significant figures in the classical music space: Gillian Moore and CN Lester to discuss issues around the 'women in music' conversation, thinking about the future and what it could look like for musicians, orchestras, programmers and audiences.

About TMDTA

Launched as a space for honesty out of founder Hattie Butterworth’s experience with obsessive compulsive disorder in music college, TMDTA’s conversations aren’t afraid to go deep quickly, getting real about the issues within the industry and personal lives of its performers. Now with trumpeter and activist Rebecca Toal, the duo are aiming to cultivate a space of honesty and accountability both through their podcast and now with live workshops, events and discussions in person.
